Fortius supports Luxembourgish artists affected by record floods

On July 14 and 15, Luxembourg was hit by record floods which also affected a large number of local artists, galeries and cultural institutions. Alarmed by a call for help published in the magazine Paperjam, Fortius contacted several artists in order to offer them assistance to secure their artworks in the Luxembourg High Security Hub.

Well known contemporary artists Martine Feipel & Jean Bechameil were the first to accept our assistance. The duo’s storage space is located in the Echternach region, which was severely impacted by the floods. The Konschthal Esch offered them an emergency storage solution on their premises until the middle of the August, after which 6 of their artworks were transferred to our storage at the Luxembourg High Security Hub, where they remain protected free of charge for as long as necessary.

Fortius warmly invites other actors in the cultural and creative community in Luxembourg to contact us and help them get their artworks to safety. Our warehouse is equipped with a restoration workshop and other workspaces where damaged art can be repaired and restored. Through our partner network we can also offer special treatment solutions and provide new transport crates.

Artists and other professionals in the creative sector can request special assistance up to 25.000 Euros per project from Luxembourg’s Oeuvre nationale de secours Grande-Duchesse Charlotte.
